Solon Police Reports: High-Speed Chase, Gun Busts, and Ring Camera Nabs Porch Pirate

DRUG OFFENSES

May 26 – Two men were arrested on firearm charges after a traffic stop on US 422 eastbound for suspected window tint violations. Marshall Lawson III, 19, of Cleveland Heights, and Leonus Barnes, 18, of Cleveland Heights, were each charged with Improper Handling of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle. Officers discovered loaded semi-automatic pistols on both men after initially stopping the vehicle and detecting marijuana odor. Three packages of marijuana were also recovered. A third passenger was not charged.

May 25 – A 19-year-old Solon man was cited for drug abuse after being found with marijuana during a traffic stop on Cochran Road. O’Sirius Nicholson was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a headlight violation. Officers also recovered a BB gun from the vehicle. The 17-year-old driver from Cleveland was not charged.

May 21 – A Cleveland woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant and cited for additional charges during a vehicle check on Harper Road. Angel Debardelaben, 53, was taken into custody on a Bedford Police Department theft warrant. She was also cited for open container and drug paraphernalia violations after officers found malt liquor and a suspected crack pipe in her vehicle. A male passenger received an open container citation.

PROPERTY CRIMES

May 21 – A package thief was identified through Ring camera footage in the Forest Glen Avenue area. A 49-year-old resident reported watching someone steal multiple packages containing household items worth $68 from his porch. Police identified a 39-year-old Cleveland man as the suspect and issued a theft warrant for his arrest. The suspect was described as driving a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV.

May 19 – Burglars struck Jim’s Open Kitchen on Aurora Road after an employee accidentally left the rear door open. The restaurant manager discovered cash register keys missing and money stolen when she arrived for work the following morning. The theft occurred sometime after the business closed at 1 pm. Less than $300 was reported stolen.

TRAFFIC INCIDENTS

May 19 – A driver fled from police after a routine traffic stop at a Circle K gas station on Aurora Road. Officers attempted to stop a black Dodge Charger for driving with high beams and having no visible license plate. The vehicle accelerated onto US 422 eastbound, then used an emergency stopping area to reverse direction before leaving city limits. Police did not pursue due to the minor nature of the initial violation.
