The Solon Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint Friday evening in the vicinity of State Route 43 (Aurora Road) and the business district to detect and remove impaired drivers from the roadways.
The checkpoint is scheduled for Friday, May 30, with the exact location to be announced that day. Officers will screen drivers to identify those operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs before they can cause harm to themselves or others.
The initiative aims to educate the public about drunk driving dangers while actively removing impaired motorists from city streets. The department emphasized their commitment to road safety for both drivers and pedestrians.
Police recommend several alternatives for those planning to consume alcohol: designating a sober driver, using taxi or rideshare services, staying overnight at their current location or a hotel, or calling a sober friend or family member for transportation.
The Solon Police Department participates in the Cuyahoga County Law Enforcement Task Force, a coalition of 45 law enforcement agencies that collaborate to combat impaired and aggressive driving throughout the county
