Two Found Dead in Possible Murder-Suicide in Lorain

Investigation ongoing after welfare check discovers victims

Lorain police are investigating a possible murder-suicide after two people were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds Saturday night. Officers responded to 215 West 29th Street around 10 p.m. May 31 for a welfare check requested by concerned family members.

The deceased have been identified as 63-year-old Anthony Coonrod and 30-year-old Emily Simmons. Officers were given a key by family members and discovered both victims inside the residence with apparent gunshot wounds.

Based on their initial investigation, police say the incident was possibly a murder-suicide. No outside suspects are being sought at this time, according to the Lorain Police Department.

The investigation remains active and ongoing by the Lorain Police Criminal Investigations Bureau and the Lorain County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Matt Hartman at (440) 204-2105.
