MACEDONIA – A 75-year-old woman crashed through the front of Fantastic Sam’s hair salon on East Aurora Road Monday afternoon after her sandal became stuck on the accelerator pedal.
The incident occurred around 2:28 p.m. June 2 when the driver was attempting to park in front of the business. According to the Macedonia Police report, the woman stated her sandal got stuck on the accelerator, causing her vehicle to go over the curb, across the sidewalk and into the building.
The 2021 Honda sedan caused extensive damage to the salon, with photos showing the vehicle completely inside the business surrounded by debris, broken glass, and damaged salon equipment. The crash destroyed the storefront windows and caused significant structural damage to the interior.
The driver was wearing her seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Macedonia Police officers Jason Hetrick and Bryan Vince responded to the scene.
The incident closed East Aurora Road temporarily while emergency crews worked to secure the scene and remove the vehicle. D&L Towing removed the damaged Honda from the building.
No charges have been filed in connection with the accident.
