Jolene’s Honky Tonk has officially opened at 2038 East 4th Street, bringing Nashville-style entertainment to downtown Cleveland’s premier pedestrian strip. The Dolly Parton-inspired establishment announced its opening on social media, declaring itself “The BEST new bar in Cleveland.”
The four-floor venue from Cleveland-based hospitality group Hangry Brands occupies the former Greenhouse Tavern space. The venue features a towering mural of “Saint Dolly” in the main room and a rear mezzanine transformed into a mini version of the Grand Ole Opry stage for live acts and DJs.
The second floor is separated into two areas: a stage for DJs or live bands and an exclusive event space that can be booked for celebrations like birthdays or bachelorette parties. The entire space can hold between 265 and 300 people total.
The establishment offers country-themed cocktails including eight-shooter guitar shotskis and cowgirl Kool-Aid. Certain drinks can be upgraded to be served in a 16-ounce plastic boot with light-up ice cubes for $6. Fat Head’s Brewery is offering an exclusive lager for Jolene’s called “A Beer Named Sue,” a play on Johnny Cash’s song “A Boy Named Sue.”
The venue features axe throwing, rooftop ice shots, dancing and live music. For food, bucket meals of chicken tenders and nuggets are served with waffle fries, creamy slaw, wonder bread, pickles and various sauces.
Jolene’s operates evenings only for patrons 21 and over seven days a week, opening by 4 p.m. daily, with last call at midnight Sunday through Thursday and 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
The project includes backing from former Cleveland Guardians manager Terry Francona and is part of Hangry Brands’ portfolio, which also includes STEAK in Tremont and The Yard on 3rd in Willoughby.
