OVI Arrests
June 3 – A 25-year-old Novelty man was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence after officers found him asleep at the wheel on SOM Center Road near Springside Lane at 2:58 AM. Daniel Menges was discovered in a vehicle partially parked on the sidewalk with vomit present and a strong odor of alcohol. He admitted to drinking “a good amount” and registered a 0.155% blood alcohol content. Menges was charged with prohibited parking on sidewalk, OVI, and prohibited BAC.
June 6 – Donald C. Baylor, 48, of Solon, was arrested for OVI after an officer clocked him driving 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on Cochran Road near Carter Street at 8:52 PM. The driver showed signs of impairment including bloodshot eyes and poor field sobriety test performance. He registered a 0.154% BAC and was charged with OVI, prohibited BAC, speeding, and no seatbelt violations.
Assault and Domestic Issues
June 3 – India Clay, 36, of Bedford, was arrested for assault after allegedly striking a former romantic partner in the face at a residence in the 6400 block of Glenallen Avenue. The incident occurred around 12:30 PM when Clay reportedly blocked the victim in his driveway and slapped him during a confrontation. Clay admitted to “swinging” on the victim and was taken to Solon Jail.
Weapons and Drug Violations
June 6 – Jacob Mits, 29, of Cleveland, was arrested during a traffic stop on Harper Road near Bainbridge Road at 1:05 AM for violating a protection order. The protected party was a passenger in his vehicle. During an inventory search, officers discovered a loaded .38 caliber revolver in the trunk. Mits was charged with violating a protection order and having weapons while under disability.
June 7 – Darnell D. Redding, 33, of Warrensville Heights, was arrested following a traffic stop for suspected window tint violations on Richmond Road near Cannon Road at 9:26 PM. Officers detected the smell of burnt marijuana and discovered multiple bags of marijuana, 16 unlabeled tablets (one testing positive for MDMA), white powder, and a digital scale. Redding was charged with possession of drugs, cannabis prohibition, and no seatbelt violation.
Theft Reports
June 5-6 – A 67-year-old Solon woman reported theft from her honor-system farm stand on Liberty Road. Items including a potted plant and five jars of honey valued at $80 were taken without payment.
June 3 – A 42-year-old Solon man reported fraudulent credit card charges totaling $1,314.02 made in Dallas, Texas, on a card he uses exclusively for fuel purchases for his tractor trailer business.
