Summit County Animal Control Boosts Support for Pets with Major Food Donation from Million Meals Campaign

Supporting Pets in Summit County: Over 70,000 Pounds of Pet Food Donated Through Million Meals NFL Campaign

Summit County Animal Control is stepping up its efforts to help pets in need thanks to a generous donation from the Million Meals campaign, a national initiative by Greater Good Charities and Bally Bet. This campaign, tied to the 2024 NFL season, donates pet meals based on fan engagement and team performance.

Through an innovative partnership with the Cleveland Browns, Bally Bet pledged 1,000 pet meals for every point scored during the season. Combined with social media-driven donations, Summit County Animal Control received more than 70,000 pounds of pet food to distribute to local families.

County Executive Ilene Shapiro emphasized the impact of this donation in supporting pet owners facing hardship. The food will be distributed through the Community Pet Food Pantry, a monthly drive-thru event offering free pet food to Summit County residents.

The upcoming Community Pet Food Pantry event will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 250 Opportunity Parkway, Akron. Residents should enter via Pier Drive to W. Bartges Street and arrive no earlier than 4:30 p.m. for the drive-thru service.

This donation ensures that pets across Summit County receive the nutrition they need while supporting families during challenging times.
