Thousands of protesters gathered across multiple Northeast Ohio communities Saturday for coordinated “No Kings” demonstrations opposing the Trump administration’s policies and military parade in Washington D.C.
Cleveland Rally Draws Largest Crowd
The largest demonstration took place in Cleveland, where organizers estimated at least 5,000 people attended a rally at Willard Park followed by a march through downtown. Protesters chanted “No kings, no crowns, he can’t tear our country down” as they moved through the city streets.
The Cleveland event was organized by groups including the Cuyahoga Women’s Caucus, with participants protesting immigration enforcement raids and other administration policies. Ohio Senate Minority Leader Nicki Antonio and Cleveland City Councilmember Jenny Spencer addressed the crowd.
Hudson Protesters Line Main Street
In Hudson, demonstrators lined both sides of Darrow Road, the city’s main north-south thoroughfare, during the afternoon hours. Protesters waved signs reading “No Kings” while drivers honked in support as they passed through the downtown intersection.
Chagrin Falls Sees Significant Turnout
Right to Read Ohio, a nonprofit advocating for the state’s libraries, organized a rally in Chagrin Falls that drew approximately 700 people. The group called on the Trump administration not to eliminate the Institute of Museum and Library Services.
Regional Participation
Additional protests took place throughout the region, including demonstrations in:
- Akron
- Youngstown
- North Ridgeville, where close to 1,000 people registered to attend
- Sandusky
The coordinated demonstrations were part of a national “No Kings Day of Defiance” organized by Indivisible, a grassroots movement focused on opposing Trump administration policies. The protests occurred simultaneously with the president’s military parade in the nation’s capital.
Cleveland Division of Police urged demonstrators to “remain orderly, respectful of public spaces, and follow all applicable laws” ahead of the planned events.
