SUMMIT COUNTY, OHIO — This July, Summit County is going to the dogs—in the best possible way! County Executive Ilene Shapiro and Summit County Animal Control are launching the “Dog Days of Summer” adoption event to help loving dogs find forever homes while helping residents save on adoption costs.
From Tuesday, July 1 through Thursday, July 31, residents can adopt a dog for just $28—a significant savings from the regular $94 fee. Each adopted pup comes fully vetted, microchipped, spayed or neutered, and ready to go home with a 2025 Summit County Dog License included in the cost.
Whether you’re taking summer walks, hitting the local trails, or simply cooling off indoors, a furry friend makes the season even better. “The joyful companionship of a dog brings warmth and happiness to any home,” said Executive Shapiro. “We hope residents take advantage of this special promotion and open their hearts to a pet in need.”
