Pepper Pike has released comprehensive safety guidelines for its trail system, emphasizing courtesy and shared use among walkers, runners, and cyclists. The new regulations require bicyclists to yield to all pedestrians and maintain reasonable speeds while using audible signals when passing.
Key safety requirements include mandatory helmet use, single-file riding in groups, and headlight requirements for nighttime cycling. The city permits Class 1 and 2 e-bikes on paths while prohibiting Class 3 and other motorized vehicles. Trail users are advised to keep one ear free of headphones to maintain awareness of surroundings.
The 24-hour accessible paths accommodate nighttime riding with proper lighting and reduced speed requirements. Emergency situations should be reported to 911 immediately.
Upcoming Community Events
The city has scheduled several community meetings and events. The Architectural Board of Review requires drawings by 11:30am on the 18th, followed by Finance Committee and City Council meetings on the 22nd at 7:00pm and 7:30pm respectively.
A movie screening of “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” is planned for the 26th at the park, beginning at dusk. The Parks and Beautification Committee will meet on the 28th at 7:00pm.
