A 17-year-old male was shot in the parking lot of the Summit County Fairgrounds Saturday night after the fair had closed for the evening.
The shooting occurred at approximately 11:15 PM on July 26 when an unknown suspect fired multiple rounds into an occupied vehicle. The teenager was struck by one bullet and transported to Akron Children’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect is described as a black male wearing a Nike t-shirt with dreadlock-style hair and a neck tattoo. He fled the scene in an unknown vehicle following the shooting.
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit processed the scene while Tallmadge Police provided assistance. The Sheriff’s Detective Bureau is investigating the incident.
The shooting marks the second night of incidents at the fairgrounds after Friday’s early closure due to separate disturbances involving teenagers throwing objects and a taser-related arrest on the midway.
Anyone with information about Saturday night’s shooting is asked to contact the Summit County Sheriff’s Detective Bureau at 330-643-8087.
