Robbery
A 15-year-old Solon resident was robbed at gunpoint July 25 after meeting suspects through Instagram to purchase sneakers. The teen was picked up from his residence by two men and driven to a bank where he withdrew $350 using his Cash App to buy Jordan shoes. After the purchase, the suspects pointed guns at the victim while still in the vehicle near Solon Road and SOM Center Road. They took back the shoes along with the teen’s phone and wallet, struck him with a gun, and abandoned him in Chagrin Falls. Antonio Hardaway, 19, of Maple Heights was arrested later that night by Garfield Heights Police and brought to Solon Jail. He faces charges of kidnapping and aggravated robbery, both first-degree felonies. A second suspect remains at large.
Stolen Property and Weapons
Officers located a maroon Lexus ES350 July 23 that had fled a Willoughby traffic stop earlier in the day. The vehicle was found in an industrial complex parking lot with two occupants. Antonio Walker was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, having weapons under disability, and improper handling of a firearm after officers discovered an unloaded gun and loaded magazine in the vehicle. The weapon had been reported stolen from Lakewood Police. Ameer Washington, 32, of Euclid, was initially released but became confrontational with officers and was arrested for obstructing official business.
Operating Under the Influence
Amanda Love, 30, of Solon, was arrested July 26 after an officer observed her BMW SUV traveling 48 mph in a 35 mph zone and making a wide turn onto Glenallen Avenue. She admitted to drinking at a club and having a loaded gun in the vehicle. Love refused a breath test and her license was placed under administrative suspension. She faces charges including OVI and improper handling of a firearm. The loaded semi-automatic pistol was seized and her vehicle was towed.
Maraixa Rosado, 28, of Cleveland, was arrested July 26 for driving with only daytime running lights and traveling 20 mph under the speed limit on the freeway. An officer noticed the odor of alcohol and slurred speech during the traffic stop. Rosado registered a .133% blood alcohol content on a breath test and was charged with OVI and prohibited BAC. Her license was suspended. A sober passenger was allowed to drive the vehicle home.
Fraud
A 59-year-old Solon man lost $4,832 July 21 in an employment scam after applying for a position through LinkedIn. The victim received what appeared to be a legitimate job offer from “Acuity INC” along with a digital check for office supplies. He was instructed to wire transfer the check amount to “Max Holding” through Western Union. The check later proved fraudulent. Police are investigating whether the victim’s email was hacked or if he applied through a bogus website.
A 74-year-old Solon resident was contacted July 21 through Telegram by scammers posing as cryptocurrency investment advisors. The fictitious woman and man convinced him to transfer money from his investment account to a Tradestation account over several days. The victim lost $1,200 before recognizing the scam and stopping further transfers. The suspects used both Telegram and WhatsApp to communicate with the victim.
Theft
A 37-year-old Solon man reported July 22 that his wallet was lost while running errands between the Solon Library and Burger King. His credit card was subsequently used at five Cleveland locations for $1,036 in unauthorized charges. The wallet contained personal identifying information in addition to the credit card. An officer will investigate the fraudulent charges.
A 19-year-old Chagrin Falls man reported July 20 that his phone was stolen from Wing Stop on Aurora Road after he forgot it during a midnight visit to the restaurant. When he returned to retrieve the device, it was gone. An officer will investigate the theft.
