Hudson Police Address Traffic Violations, Property Crimes During Week of July 20-26

Multiple arrests made for suspended license violations and OVI offense

Traffic Violations and Arrests

Three individuals were arrested for driving under suspension during the reporting period. On July 20, a 26-year-old Akron woman was stopped for speeding on Ravenna Street and found to have a suspended license. Later that evening on Herrick Park Drive, a 20-year-old Munroe Falls man was stopped for extreme excessive speed and reckless operation. He was found to be under an OVI suspension, and his vehicle was impounded. During the inventory, police discovered an open beer on the passenger side floorboard, which his 17-year-old passenger from Peninsula admitted belonged to him. The teen was cited and released to his stepfather.

On July 24, another speeding violation at Stow Road and Ravenna Street resulted in a driving under suspension citation for a Hebron man, who was also transported to Streetsboro Police Department on a failure to appear warrant.

A significant OVI arrest occurred July 22 at South Main Street and Ravenna Street when an officer initiated a traffic stop for left of center and speed violations. The Hudson driver was found to be impaired and arrested for OVI.

Fire Response

Hudson Fire Department responded to a fire outside a garage on Huntington Road on Sunday night. In less than a minute, it was upgraded to a garage attic fire. Hudson Police assisted with the response, requesting automatic mutual aid.

Property Crimes

On July 21, officers investigated a shattered front door at a business on South Main Street and took a theft report from an Akron resident at another South Main Street location. On July 24, police investigated an identity theft case at a Hudson Street business.

Welfare Checks and Missing Person

Police conducted welfare checks including one requested by an out-of-state friend concerned about a West Streetsboro Street resident. On July 25, officers responded to Omni Lake Parkway for an elderly female who appeared to be lost.

A juvenile complaint was filed July 25 when a Williamsburg Circle resident reported her 15-year-old son had run away overnight. The teen was located at a friend’s house in Tallmadge and transported to Tallmadge Police Department for pickup by his mother.

Other Incidents

Officers responded to civil matters at a residential care facility and between residents on Bard Drive. A domestic situation between an adult daughter and mother on Glen Echo Drive was resolved upon officers’ arrival. Police also responded to suspicious activity on Wren Haven Drive and a trespassing complaint involving protesters at a North Main Street establishment.

Additional calls included found property reports, a residential lockout on Fairway Boulevard, and alarm responses at True North Gas Station and a Vinemont Court residence.
