A Euclid Police K9 officer made his first official gun seizure after a 17-year-old brandished a firearm and made threats during a fight involving multiple people on July 24.
The juvenile suspect drove away from the scene but was later stopped by police. Officer Puszakowski and his K9 partner Chinook were called to assist with the investigation.
Chinook, who is certified in firearm detection, located a suspicious bag beneath the driver’s seat of the suspect’s vehicle. The bag contained an AR pistol, which has been removed from the streets.
This seizure represents Chinook’s first official gun recovery since joining the Euclid Police Department. The department expressed pride in the K9’s performance and training success.
The incident demonstrates the effectiveness of specialized police units in removing dangerous weapons from the community during volatile situations involving juveniles.
