The City of Solon has announced it will establish a candidate list for Patrol Officer positions with the Solon Police Department. The department is accepting only the first 150 applications submitted with payment.
Testing will begin with a written examination administered by Clancy & Associates on Sunday, September 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Solon Community Center. Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% to advance in the hiring process.
Qualified applicants must meet several requirements including a high school diploma or GED, be at least 21 years old by the examination date, maintain valid driving privileges, and demonstrate good moral character with no felony or misdemeanor history. The position requires an excellent work ethic and service-oriented attitude.
The hiring process includes a background investigation, truth analysis, and psychological examinations. Candidates must also provide a certificate of completion from the Police Agility Test administered by Cuyahoga County Community College, valid within one year of appointment.
New hires will earn a starting salary of $84,375.83. Benefits include medical, prescription, dental, and vision coverage, along with membership in the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund, life insurance, vacation and sick leave accruals, and select paid holidays.
Applications must be submitted online through the City of Solon website at https://www.solonohio.gov/jobs.aspx with a $20 non-refundable examination fee. The deadline for applications and fees is September 26. Payments
