Solon Police Reports: Loaded Gun Found, Custody Exchange Brawl and Triple Legal Limit DUI

Man Posts Nearly Triple Legal Limit in Solon DUI Arrest August 7

A driver caught straddling lanes on Aurora Road early Wednesday morning registered a blood alcohol concentration of .203%, nearly triple Ohio’s legal limit of .08%. Darris Hollingshead, 40, of Warrensville Heights, was arrested after showing signs of impairment including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and poor performance on field sobriety tests. He was charged with OVI, prohibited BAC and driving in marked lanes violations.

Driver Arrested for Marijuana DUI at Gas Station August 7

Police arrested a man for OVI after discovering marijuana and a lit joint during a traffic stop for window tinting violations at the True North gas station on SOM Center Road. DeAngelo Martin, 20, showed signs of impairment and refused to submit to a urine test for drugs. A passenger in the vehicle, Eliyjah Jackson, 20, was also arrested on an outstanding felony warrant from Mayfield Heights for receiving stolen property.

Islamic Center Parking Lot DUI Nets Driver August 8

An officer on patrol discovered a driver stopped in the parking lot of the Chagrin Valley Islamic Center on Liberty Road in the early morning hours. Jawan Walker, 28, of Maple Heights, told police he was waiting for a text message but showed signs of alcohol impairment and had an open container in his vehicle. He registered a .119% BAC and was charged with OVI, prohibited BAC and open container violations.

Speeding Driver Busted for Drug Possession August 11

A traffic stop for speeding on US 422 led to drug charges after police discovered eight amphetamine pills without a prescription. Nathaniel Bieznieks, 33, of Chagrin Falls, was driving 80 mph in a 60 mph zone when stopped. He showed signs of drug impairment and was charged with drug possession, OVI, no driver’s license and speeding.

Solon Man Arrested After Domestic Dispute August 7

A domestic violence incident in the Edith Street area resulted in the arrest of James Kincaid, 59, of Solon. Police responded to reports of a dispute between domestic partners that turned physical, leaving visible marks on the victim. Investigation determined Kincaid was the aggressor in the incident.

Custody Exchange Turns Into Parking Lot Brawl August 9

A child custody exchange at Chick-fil-A on SOM Center Road escalated into a physical fight between two men. Joseph Barnett, 30, of Cortland, and Johnathan Trunk, 38, of Lorain, were both arrested for disorderly conduct after wrestling in the parking lot during a custody exchange involving a 3-year-old child. Both men sustained minor injuries from the altercation.

Weapons Charges

Loaded Gun Found During Parking Lot Check August 9

Police discovered a loaded semi-automatic pistol during a search at the Roll House on Bainbridge Road. Keyon Humphrey, 24, of Euclid, was arrested after initially denying the presence of weapons in his vehicle. The gun was found under the passenger seat along with an open bottle of tequila.
