Aurora Police Reports: Ninja Turtles, Fraud and Naked Man Lurking

Aurora police responded to a variety of incidents from July 27 to August 3, including a mental health crisis involving claims about ninja turtles, multiple fraud cases and a sex offense report.

Mental Health Crisis Involves Ninja Turtle Claims

Police responded August 1 to Moneta Avenue after a man reported seeing people dressed as ninja turtles in his yard who he believed were planning to steal his vehicle. The individual told officers he saw Mexicans and other people in his trees and was concerned they were going to steal his truck.

The man advised that there was no one on his property but that getting rest may help. He complained about officers asking him to come out and speak when he arrived, saying he was now preparing to shoot a gas tank through the window and went into his home. The caller had called back multiple times asking about transporting drugs and blaming police for transporting drugs.

The man eventually stated he was advised to protect himself by all means necessary and that he had been around firearms all his life. He said he was going back in the home and would come out and speak to an officer when they arrived.

The incident required extensive police response and crisis intervention.

Video evidence was captured on a ring camera and police conducted a check-up, determining they were good to go with the follow-up investigation.

The woman declined emergency medical services and the male was arrested and transported to jail. Ara Uddin Zaheen was charged with domestic violence.

Threatening Note Left on Door

A resident on East Boulevard reported July 29 that a handwritten note was left on their door. The first line of the note read “2 deaths in that house” which upset the homeowner. The person had just moved into the residence and didn’t want to read the rest of the note because it was disturbing. Police documented the trespassing complaint and the note was left by an unknown person.
