Brecksville Police Reports Multiple Arrests and Traffic Incidents

Brecksville – Brecksville police handled several significant incidents over recent weeks, including arrests for drunk driving and protection order violations, along with property damage cases involving vehicles.

Protection Order Violation Leads to Arrest

Steven Zatorski Jr. was arrested August 10 for violating a protection order after allegedly going to collect property from a Fitzwater Road residence where he was prohibited from being. Police responded around 2:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a protection order violation. The suspect was found standing in the driveway with his father near a vehicle when officers arrived.

According to the police report, Zatorski Jr. told officers his father had invited him to come collect property and that he didn’t think it would be an issue. The protected party, identified as his sister Ariel, had locked herself in the bathroom after becoming fearful of his presence.

Brecksville City Prosecutor Lisa Sabol confirmed that while a temporary protection order against Steven Zatorski Sr. had been lifted, a no contact order remained in effect against Steven Zatorski Jr. The order prohibited any contact with Ariel Zatorski and Crystal Zatorski and banned him from returning to the Fitzwater Road address. Zatorski Jr. was placed under arrest and transported to North Royalton Jail.

Multi-Agency Police Chase Ends in Brecksville

A stolen vehicle pursuit involving multiple police agencies ended in Brecksville early August 12 after a high-speed chase through several northeast Ohio communities. The incident began around 3:38 a.m. when Cuyahoga Heights police attempted a traffic stop on a 1999 Dodge Caravan. The vehicle had fled from an earlier attempted stop and was traveling at high speeds on Interstate 77.

Broadview Heights police joined the pursuit as the stolen vehicle exited the highway and drove through residential areas, including near Broadview Heights Elementary School. The chase continued through a bus loop at the school, causing damage to a gate before the vehicle proceeded through Valley Parkway. The pursuit wound through multiple communities before the vehicle finally stopped in Newburgh Heights. Several unidentified males fled the vehicle on foot and were detained shortly after.

Semi-Truck Damages Traffic Equipment

A semi-truck driver was cited for property damage after his oversized load scraped a crosswalk signal pole at the intersection of Brecksville Road and Chippewa Road on August 5. The incident occurred around 3:16 p.m. when the driver attempted to make a right turn from State Route 82 onto State Route 21. The cement block being transported extended four feet beyond the trailer’s right side, causing it to strike the pedestrian crosswalk button pole.

Police arrived to find the crosswalk signal hanging from the pole by its wires. The driver told officers he had delivered a block to Riverview Road earlier and was heading north when the incident occurred. The damaged equipment was valued at $100.

Hit-and-Run Citation Issued

A driver was cited for willful disregard for safety after leaving the scene of a property damage incident on Oakes Road on August 12. The incident was reported around 3:38 a.m. Police issued a traffic citation under Ohio Revised Code 4511.201 for the traffic violation.
