Reports span August 13-18 with weapons confiscated, psychiatric evaluations

Northfield Village Police responded to four incidents between August 13-18, including a fatal domestic violence case and multiple weapons confiscations.

The most serious incident occurred August 13 on Vorderman Road when officers responded to reports of a male holding a gun to a female’s head. Upon investigation, the male was found deceased and the female was unharmed.

Earlier that day on Ledge Road, a domestic disturbance resulted in psychiatric evaluations for both parties. Officers responded to reports of items being thrown in a hallway and someone possibly falling down stairs. The Northfield Village Fire Department evaluated both parties, with the male voluntarily going to Ahuja Medical Center for psychiatric evaluation.

On August 17, police confiscated multiple weapons during a disorderly conduct incident at Sunset Motel on Northfield Road. Officers responded to reports of a man brandishing a knife in a threatening manner toward a female guest. Police confiscated a knife, screwdriver and folding knife.

Northfield officers also assisted Macedonia Police August 18 with an armed domestic disturbance on Deepwood Drive. The late-night incident resulted in an arrest and firearm recovery. The suspect was taken to Akron City Hospital under emergency hospitalization guidelines.
