Cleveland – Northeast Ohio’s manufacturing sector is positioning itself at the forefront of the smart technology revolution, with MAGNET leading a series of fall events designed to help companies embrace automation and artificial intelligence.
MAGNET will host “Trends in Business: Futureproofing with Advanced Automation and AI” on September 24, 2025, followed by an Executive Forum on September 25. The events target the region’s manufacturing companies as they navigate the transition to Industry 4.0 technologies.
“Northeast Ohio has everything it needs to lead the world in smart manufacturing,” said MAGNET officials. “We just have to do what we do best: Make It Better. Together.”
The timing is critical for the region’s manufacturing base. Manufacturing accounts for 18% of northeast Ohio’s gross domestic product, supported by a talent pool of 1.8 million workers. The sector has evolved from its traditional steel and automotive roots into a globally recognized center for advanced manufacturing spanning Internet of Things applications to biomedical devices.
Recent investments underscore the momentum. Sinbon recently opened a new U.S. manufacturing facility in the region, investing approximately $8.5 million. The facility, which became fully operational in September, is expected to bring jobs for up to 200 workers serving smart manufacturing, automotive, and renewable energy industries.
The region’s manufacturing transformation centers on what experts call the “fourth wave of the industrial revolution” – Industry 4.0. This encompasses digital automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, the Internet of Things, big data, and connected manufacturing systems.
MAGNET’s fall programming includes additional events targeting second-stage entrepreneurs. “Scaling Success: Strategies & Stories from Local Businesses” is scheduled for September 8, 2025, followed by a “Learning & Networking Series for Second-Stage Entrepreneurs” on September 18.
The organization’s approach goes beyond individual companies. MAGNET serves as a servant leader, championing systems and investments that drive manufacturing growth across northeast Ohio’s 21-county region. Their mission includes helping companies build working prototypes, develop manufacturing processes, and design go-to-market strategies.
The region’s manufacturing legacy provides a strong foundation for this technological leap. Of northeast Ohio’s largest private employers, many are manufacturers. Companies like Eaton Corporation, The Timken Company, and Lincoln Electric have established reputations for workplace innovation and technological advancement.
Eaton Corporation’s recent $170 million investment in a new 600,000-square-foot campus in Beachwood demonstrates the scale of commitment to regional manufacturing. The facility houses 1,800 local employees and represents the type of advanced manufacturing operations that define the new industrial landscape.
The transformation isn’t limited to large corporations. MAGNET’s programs specifically target small and mid-sized manufacturers, helping them access the technologies and expertise needed to compete in the smart manufacturing era.
Industry 4.0 technologies are completely changing how things are made and what can be manufactured. Hidden behind factory walls, cobots work alongside human operators, artificial intelligence optimizes production schedules, and connected systems monitor equipment performance in real-time.
The region’s educational infrastructure supports this transition. Twenty-six higher education institutions offer programs in mechanical engineering, CNC operations, vehicle technology, and welding – creating a pipeline of skilled workers ready for advanced manufacturing careers.
Manufacturing Works, another regional organization, connects more than 300 manufacturing companies across northeast Ohio. The network provides learning programs, workforce development solutions, and technology guidance to help companies navigate the digital transformation.
The smart manufacturing revolution represents both opportunity and necessity for northeast Ohio manufacturers. Companies that successfully integrate these technologies position themselves for growth, while those that don’t risk being left behind in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.
MAGNET’s fall events aim to ensure regional manufacturers have the knowledge and connections needed to thrive in this new industrial era. By focusing on practical applications of automation and AI, the programs help companies move beyond theoretical discussions to real-world implementation.
The initiative aligns with broader regional economic development goals. Northeast Ohio has identified advanced manufacturing as a key cluster for growth, with organizations like Team NEO working to attract additional investment and talent to the sector.
For manufacturers ready to embrace the smart technology revolution, MAGNET’s fall programming provides both the roadmap and the network needed to succeed in Industry 4.0.
