The long-awaited third season of the popular anime series Jujutsu Kaisen has officially been confirmed for a January 2026 release, following the debut of a new trailer during the show’s fifth anniversary celebration event.
The upcoming season, titled “Jujutsu Kaisen: The Culling Game Part 1,” will adapt the manga’s Culling Game arc and stream weekly on Crunchyroll in most countries except Asia. The trailer showcases highly anticipated battles including Yuji vs. Yuta and Maki vs. the Zenin clan.
The announcement comes after more than a year of waiting since Season 2 concluded in December 2023 with the devastating Shibuya Incident arc. Fans have been eager for updates, especially following the conclusion of the original manga in September 2024 after selling over 100 million copies worldwide.
The Culling Game arc represents a major turning point in the series, introducing new characters and high-stakes battles that follow the aftermath of the Shibuya disaster. The season will focus on Yuji Itadori being hunted by Yuta Okkotsu, the protagonist from the popular Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, creating an intense conflict between fan-favorite characters.
MAPPA returns to animate Season 3 with Shota Goshozono directing, Hiroshi Seko handling scripts, and character designs by Yosuke Yajima and Hiromi Niwa. The main voice cast includes returning performers from previous seasons.
Crunchyroll holds exclusive streaming rights for Season 3 outside of Asia and will release new episodes the same day they air in Japan. Previous seasons are currently available on Netflix, Hulu and Crunchyroll for viewers wanting to catch up before the new season arrives.
A special theatrical release titled “Jujutsu Kaisen: Execution” will premiere in Japan on November 7, featuring a recap of the Shibuya Incident arc plus the first two episodes of Season 3. The film will reach North American theaters on December 5, giving fans an early preview before the full season launches.
