Ravenna Police Department made several arrests during the week of Sept. 21-28, with charges ranging from OVI to protection order violations and juvenile offenses.
OVI and Child Endangering
On Sept. 23, a 41-year-old individual was arrested on multiple charges following a traffic stop. The suspect faced two counts of operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. One charge specifically cited a blood alcohol content of .17 grams or more per 210 liters of breath, which is more than twice the legal limit in Ohio. The suspect also faced a charge of endangering children while operating a vehicle under the influence with a child under 18 present in the vehicle. An additional citation was issued for tail-lights and rear license plate lights violations. The combination of OVI with a minor in the vehicle elevates the severity of the charges under Ohio law.
Protection Order Violations
A 46-year-old suspect was arrested Sept. 22 on two separate counts of violating a protection order or consent agreement. Protection order violations occur when an individual subject to a court-ordered protection order contacts or approaches the protected party in violation of the order’s terms. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor from Ravenna Police Department at the time of arrest.
Juvenile Offenses
Three juveniles were arrested on unruly juvenile offense charges during the week. Two arrests occurred Sept. 22 involving individuals ages 14 and 12. Another arrest took place Sept. 28 involving a 16-year-old who also faced an additional charge for an offense involving underage persons. Unruly juvenile offenses in Ohio typically involve behaviors such as violating curfew, truancy, or disobeying parents or guardians. The charge involving underage persons on Sept. 28 suggests a violation of laws related to alcohol, tobacco, or other age-restricted activities.
Aggravated Menacing
On Sept. 26, a 12-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated menacing. Under Ohio law, aggravated menacing involves knowingly causing another person to believe the offender will cause serious physical harm. This is considered a more serious threat offense than simple menacing due to the nature of the threat made.
Drug Possession
A 49-year-old individual was arrested Sept. 28 on a charge of possession of drugs. The arrest also included an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor from Ravenna Police Department. Possession of drugs charges in Ohio vary in severity depending on the type and amount of controlled substance involved.
Warrant Arrests
In addition to the arrests with outstanding warrants already mentioned, a 53-year-old was arrested Sept. 25 solely on a warrant for a misdemeanor from Ravenna Police Department, and a 19-year-old was arrested Sept. 28 on a warrant from another agency for a misdemeanor.
The arrests reflect enforcement efforts across multiple areas including traffic safety, domestic protection orders, juvenile conduct, and drug offenses during the seven-day period.
