Hudson Announces Upcoming Events, City Updates

Hydrant flushing, watershed study meeting and safety open house scheduled

Hudson residents should prepare for fall hydrant flushing beginning Oct. 13 and continuing through Oct. 24.

The city announced several upcoming events during the Oct. 7 council meeting and in its weekly e-news update.

Road Closure for Water Main Repair

City crews will begin repairing West Streetsboro Street on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. following a Sept. 23 water main break. State Route 303 eastbound will be closed with traffic detoured eastbound down Milford Drive to Darrow Road. Library Street at SR 303 will be closed. Crews will maintain westbound traffic at all times. Drivers should plan an alternate route.

Upcoming Community Events

A public meeting on the Tinkers Creek Watershed Study is scheduled for Oct. 23 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. The study focuses on major streams, bridges, culverts and trunk storm sewer mains throughout Hudson.

The Hudson Safety Services Open House takes place Oct. 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hudson Safety Center and Police Station on South Oviatt Street.

City Manager Thomas Sheridan said electronic message boards will be deployed before Oct. 31 trick-or-treat hours to remind drivers to use caution. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and may coincide with a home football game for the Hudson Explorers starting at 7 p.m.

The Inclusive Playground project at Oak Grove Park is scheduled to go before the Planning Commission on Oct. 13 for site plan approval. The city has released a fly-through video showing the proposed design.

Fire Prevention Week runs through Oct. 11 with the Hudson Fire Department highlighting lithium-ion battery safety. Public Power Week also runs through Oct. 11, celebrating the reliable and cost-effective electricity provided by Hudson Public Power.

September marked a major milestone for Velocity Broadband, celebrating 10 years of delivering fiber optic internet service to Hudson’s business community.

The city is accepting applications for a Broadband Technician through Oct. 20 at 4 p.m. and seeking an experienced communications professional to lead the city communications team.
