Hudson City Announces Fall Leaf Collection, Community Events

Residents can mark calendars for leaf pickup, e-waste recycling and drug take-back programs

SERVICES

Hudson’s fall leaf collection begins Oct. 27, with the city divided into four quadrants for the six-week program. Residents should place leaves at the edge of the street, free of debris and obstructions, by the Monday of their scheduled pickup week. The city offers an online tool where residents can check their specific pickup schedule by entering their address.

RECYCLING

An e-waste recycling and paper shredding event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hudson City Hall. Residents can drop off old electronics and sensitive documents for proper disposal. Drop-off limitations apply.

UTILITIES

The City of Akron will flush water main hydrants in Hudson on Tuesday, Oct. 14, from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. The flushing helps maintain water quality and increase the amount of water available. Residents can call 330-375-2420 for hydrant flushing updates.

PARKS

Darrow Road Park is now open after a 4-6 week closure for stream restoration work. The park had been closed to allow crews to complete the restoration project.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Hudson Fire responded to a call for a fire on Hudson Park Drive at approximately 12:07 p.m. on Oct. 7. Chief Varnes arrived in less than six minutes, with the first engine leaving the station in less than one minute and arriving at the scene in less than seven minutes. The fire, which was on the rear wall of the house, was quickly contained. There were no injuries to residents or firefighters.

Hudson Police will host a drug take-back event Oct. 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Acme Fresh Market. The event coincides with National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Residents can turn in pill and capsule medications. Only pills and capsules will be collected; liquid medications and syringes cannot be turned in. The collected drugs will be incinerated according to federal and state environmental guidelines.

HALLOWEEN

Hudson’s official day for Halloween trick-or-treating is Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The city reminds drivers to slow down, stay alert and watch for children who may appear unexpectedly.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Hudson Safety Services Open House is scheduled for Oct. 13 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hudson Safety Center.
