Gates Mills Police Reports: Sleeping Intruder, Harassment Report and Late-Night Power Scare

Gates Mills police handled several incidents during the week of Oct. 20-25, including a confused woman found sleeping in a home under construction and a medical-related crash.

Power Outage Investigation

Officers responded to West Hill Drive at 4 a.m. Oct. 20 after a resident reported a power outage and concern that someone might be inside the home. Police checked the interior and confirmed everything was secure.

Phone Line Issues

Police received a 911 call with static Oct. 22 from a Colvin residence. Officers contacted the homeowner, who was out of town and reported ongoing phone line problems.

Woman Found Sleeping in Construction Site

A general contractor at a Settler’s Ridge home under construction reported Oct. 22 that a woman had walked onto the property, asked questions about the house, then went inside and fell asleep in a bedroom. Officers identified the woman and determined she was experiencing mental health issues. Her husband responded to pick her up and later retrieved her vehicle from the business district on Chagrin River Road.

Medical Emergency Leads to Crash

Officers responded to Woodstock Road Oct. 23 for a single-vehicle accident. A resident driving home experienced a medical condition, causing her vehicle to drive in and out of a ditch before leaving the roadway. EMS transported her to a hospital for evaluation.

Verbal Harassment at Playground

A Mayfield Heights resident reported Oct. 24 that her daughter was verbally harassed by four unknown teenage boys while playing at St. Francis playground. The incident was documented and advice was provided.

Trespassing Complaint

A Main Street resident requested documentation Oct. 25 after a couple walking their dogs stopped to take selfies on the resident’s property. The couple apologized and left the area.
