Twinsburg City Council recognized a local Eagle Scout for his achievements during its Oct. 28 meeting.
The council presented a proclamation to Alex Miller, who earned the rank of Eagle Scout on June 3. Miller, a member of Troop 213, started his scouting journey in 2014 as a wolf scout with Cub Pack 677 before crossing over to Boy Scouts in March 2018.
Throughout his time in scouting, Miller held several leadership positions including troop quartermaster, patrol leader and assistant senior patrol leader. He also attended the national youth leadership training in June 2023.
For his Eagle Scout project, Miller built four benches and three shelving units for the United Methodist Church of Macedonia. He earned 26 merit badges during his scouting career, including 14 Eagle-required badges.
Miller graduated magna cum laude from Twinsburg High School in 2025 and participated in Business Professionals of America through the career technical program.
Mayor Sam Scaffide praised Miller’s accomplishments, noting the extensive work required to achieve Eagle Scout rank. Council President David Post acknowledged the achievement, saying Eagle Scout ceremonies remind him how much young people accomplish by age 18.
Miller attended the meeting with fellow scouts from Troop 213, who participated in the recognition ceremony.
The Eagle Scout rank is the highest achievement in scouting, earned by only about 6% of all scouts. Requirements include earning at least 21 merit badges, demonstrating leadership and service, and completing an extensive service project that the scout plans, organizes, leads and manages.
