Summit County Executive Ilene Shapiro’s Department of Job and Family Services and the Akron Urban League are hosting a community forum to address changes coming to SNAP and Medicaid programs.
The event takes place Thursday, Nov. 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Akron Urban League, 440 Vernon Odom Blvd.
Recent and upcoming changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and Medicaid have raised questions among Summit County residents. Representatives from the Department of Job and Family Services will explain how the changes may affect residents and offer guidance for navigating benefits and services.
Many families rely on SNAP and Medicaid to stay healthy and financially stable. The forum aims to help residents understand what resources are available and how to prepare for upcoming changes.
Other local service providers and community organizations will have information tables, giving residents an opportunity to connect with additional community resources.
The event is free and open to the public.
