Gates Mills police responded to a variety of calls between Nov. 9 and Nov. 14, including an animal-at-large citation, welfare checks, and several assist calls with no ongoing threats to public safety reported.
Husky Running Loose Leads to Citation
On Nov. 9, a Mayfield Road resident was cited for animal at large after a husky was found running in the roadway.
A passing motorist stopped, picked up the loose dog and brought it to the police station. An officer recognized the husky from previous incidents, returned it to its owner and issued a citation, noting there had already been two prior warnings for the same issue.
911 Call Traced to Phone Problem
On Nov. 10, officers responded to a 911 call from a Norvale residence.
They met with the resident and determined the landline was having technical issues. There were no signs of an emergency and the situation checked OK.
Health Department Escort for Septic Test
On Nov. 12, an officer escorted members of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health while they conducted a septic system test at an Echo Glen residence.
Police remained on scene to assist as needed while the inspection was completed.
Welfare Check on Sleeping Resident
On Nov. 13, a home health care nurse asked police to check on a Sugarbush resident after being unable to make contact.
A responding officer arrived at the home and was able to make contact with the person, who was found sleeping inside. No further assistance was needed.
Window Damage Likely From Landscaping Debris
Also on Nov. 13, a Chestnut Run resident reported a damaged window pane.
Officers observed the damage and noted it appeared consistent with debris thrown by landscape equipment. No criminal activity was suspected.
Hunt Club Checked After Hours
On Nov. 14, a worker at the Chagrin Valley Hunt Club contacted police, requesting a walk-through of the building because he believed someone might be inside after hours.
Officers checked the interior of the club and found it secure. No unauthorized persons were located and the call was handled as an assist.
