The Summit County Sheriffโs Office says an arrest has been made following a Green MAPS Air Museum theft that led investigators to connect multiple break-ins, recover a stolen rifle and other property, and identify a suspect from Florida.
On Dec. 2, 2025, at about 8:15 a.m., deputies responded to the MAPS Air Museum on International Parkway in Green after an employee arrived and found a lock on the front door had been broken. Once inside, staff discovered items missing from the museum, including an electric bicycle and a rifle.
Detectives from the Sheriffโs Office Detective Bureau responded to the scene. Investigators processed the crime scene and were able to locate the electric bicycle nearby. The investigation into the Green MAPS Air Museum theft continued as detectives worked to track down the missing rifle and identify a suspect.
Later that afternoon, around 3 p.m., deputies were called to a business on Greensburg Road in Green after the owner reported seeing a suspect run out of the business wearing the ownerโs hat and sunglasses. The owner contacted the Sheriffโs Office, and responding deputies searched the area.
Deputies located and detained a suspect near the intersection of Massillon Road and Greensburg Road. Detectives determined the same individual was responsible not only for the break-in at the MAPS Air Museum, but also for a break-in earlier that morning at the concession stand at Greensburg Park.
A Sheriffโs Office K-9 unit later found the stolen rifle in a wooded area in Green. Deputies also recovered items taken from the concession stand.
The suspect was identified as Derrick Duck, 43, of Palatka, Florida. Duck was arrested and faces multiple charges, including Theft (F-4), Breaking and Entering (F-4), Theft of a Firearm (F-4), Weapons Under Disability (F-3), and Criminal Damaging (M-4). He was taken to the Summit County Jail.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
