Public Safety Update: Increased Mall Security, Summit Mall Patrols, Holiday Shopping

The Summit County Sheriffโ€™s Office and the Fairlawn Police Department are partnering with mall security to provide increased mall security at Summit Mall on December 26, 2025, as post-holiday shopping crowds fill stores.

Authorities say the added presence is intended to create a safe and welcoming environment for visitors, tenants, and employees.

Increased Mall Security at Summit Mall

According to a release from the Summit County Sheriffโ€™s Office, deputies and Fairlawn officers will be on site at Summit Mall, working directly with mall security throughout the day.

Officials emphasize that the effort is proactive and not in response to any specific threat. The goal is to reassure shoppers and staff as one of the busiest shopping periods of the year continues.

Enhanced Patrols and Surveillance

The increased mall security plan includes:

  • A greater presence of law enforcement personnel in and around the mall
  • Enhanced surveillance monitoring of public areas
  • Coordination between deputies, Fairlawn officers, and mall security staff

These visible measures are designed to deter crime, respond quickly to any issues, and help keep traffic moving in and out of the property.

Focus on a Safe, Welcoming Environment

Law enforcement agencies say they want visitors to feel secure bringing their families to the mall during the holiday season. The Summit County Sheriffโ€™s Office and Fairlawn Police are encouraging the public to remain aware of their surroundings and to report any suspicious behavior to officers or mall security immediately.
