STOW, Ohio – The City of Stow began its 2026 legislative session with an organizational meeting on January 2, marked by the election of new council leadership and the recognition of a local high school standout.
The meeting, which followed a formal swearing-in ceremony for council members and the law director, saw Kyle Herman elected as president of council. Joining him in leadership for the new term are John Baranek, who was elected vice president, and Cyle Feldman, who will serve as president pro tempore.
During the session, council paused to celebrate the achievements of Andrew Branch, a Stow-Munroe Falls High School student who captured the 2025 state championship in congressional debate. Branch was presented with a commemorative sign and shared insights into the research and persuasive speaking required for the category.
Looking ahead, President Herman said committee assignments are still being evaluated, with council members asked to share their preferences as the body prepares to take on the city’s 2026 work.
