AURORA, Ohio – The Aurora Police Department handled a variety of calls to start the new year, ranging from a high-speed pursuit that reached nearly 100 mph to a domestic violence incident involving a foot chase through the woods.
Local officers were kept busy as 2026 began. On January 3, a white Mercedes led police on a chase through the city after being clocked at a high rate of speed. The pursuit was eventually terminated for safety reasons as the vehicle reached speeds of 100 mph heading toward the city limits. In a separate incident on January 4, officers used a K9 unit to track a suspect into a wooded area following a domestic dispute on Creek View Drive. Additionally, a resident in the Barrington neighborhood reported significant damage to a street light after a vehicle slid on ice and split the pole in half.
