Summit County Crash Fatality: Church Parking Lot Incident, Elderly Victim, Ongoing Investigation

COVENTRY TOWNSHIP, Ohio โ€“ A Coventry Township crash fatality is under investigation after a woman was struck by a vehicle in a church parking lot Sunday afternoon, according to the Summit County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Deputies were called to St. Francis de Sales Church shortly after noon on Jan. 11 for a report of a pedestrian struck in the parking lot. When first responders arrived, they found a 72-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries.

Investigators said the woman was walking through the parking lot when she was hit by a 2017 Buick SUV operated by a 90-year-old female. The Coventry Fire Department transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

The Summit Metro Crash Response Team assisted at the scene and is handling the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time, and charges remain pending the outcome of the investigation.

The Summit County Sheriffโ€™s Office did not release the names of those involved.

Investigation Remains Active

Authorities have not indicated whether speed, impairment, or other contributing factors played a role in the Coventry Township crash fatality. The investigation remains ongoing.
