AURORA, Ohio – The Aurora Police Department handled a variety of calls this past week, ranging from identity theft reports and property damage to a domestic dispute and an OVI arrest at a local drive-thru.

Fraud and Identity Theft
On Jan. 8, a resident from Greenbriar Drive reported a scam and fraud incident at the station. Later that afternoon, another resident from the same street arrived to report fraud on behalf of her father. Both cases were documented for investigation.

Lawn and Property Damage
A resident on Club Drive West reported on Jan. 8 that a semi-truck drove through their side yard a few days prior, damaging the lawn and sprinkler system. The incident was captured on video. On the same day, a construction pickup truck and trailer were reported for leaving tire tracks on a “devil strip” at a nearby property.

Retail Theft
Police were called to South Chillicothe Road on Jan. 8 regarding a theft that occurred in late December. An employee provided officers with a list of items and values taken during the incident.

Nursing Facility Trespass
Officers responded to a facility on South Chillicothe Road on Jan. 8 after a man refused to leave the premises. The man had initially called to complain about his mother’s care and an injury to her roommate. After an evaluation by the fire department, the man left for the evening without further incident.

Domestic Dispute
On Jan. 9, police responded to Seamore Road after a woman reported her husband pushed her off the stairs. The male initially left the scene in a black Acura but returned while officers were still on-site. He eventually left for the night to de-escalate the situation.

Mental Health Crisis
Police and EMS responded to Winslow Drive on Jan. 11 for a man reportedly experiencing a mental health crisis. After a period of staging and negotiation, the man was transported to a local emergency room for evaluation.

Theft of Phone
A resident on Chesterton Court reported on Jan. 12 that her ex-boyfriend took her cellular phone and refused to return it. The report was filed to assist the victim in recouping the balance with her service provider.

OVI at the Drive-Thru
Late on Jan. 12, an employee at a business on West Garfield Road reported a male in a red sedan who had gone through the drive-thru three times and appeared intoxicated. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver for OVI. During processing, the suspect experienced difficulty breathing and was evaluated by EMS before being transported to the Portage County Jail.

Lost Property
A man visited the station on Jan. 13 to report a lost Social Security card, which he believed may have been misplaced at a BMV or a tire shop in a neighboring city.
