SOLON, Ohio – The Solon Police Department released its weekly update for the period ending January 19, 2026, detailing several significant investigations ranging from violent threats to sophisticated financial scams.

Domestic Violence Warrant Issued

On January 12, officers responded to Ahuja Medical Center after a 41-year-old Solon woman sought treatment for injuries sustained during an assault. The victim reported that her boyfriend had punched her in the arm, causing visible bruising. Following an investigation, police issued a warrant for a 54-year-old Solon man on a third-degree felony charge of Domestic Violence, a higher-level offense due to his prior convictions. The victim has requested a protection order while the suspect remains at large.

Stolen Firearm Recovered During Traffic Stop

A routine traffic stop on US 422 eastbound near SOM Center Road led to a felony arrest on January 17. An officer stopped a gray Jeep Compass for a window tint violation and detected the odor of marijuana. Although the driver denied having weapons, a search of the vehicle revealed a loaded semi-automatic pistol inside her purse. Further investigation confirmed the firearm had been reported stolen in Cleveland in 2021. The 32-year-old Cleveland woman was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, improper handling of a firearm, and a window tint violation.

Elderly Resident Targeted in “Grandparent Scam”

Detectives are investigating a “Grandparent Scam” that occurred on January 17 involving an 81-year-old resident on Deer Run. The victim received a call from someone posing as his grandson, claiming he was in jail following a car accident involving a pregnant woman. The scammer, along with an accomplice posing as a lawyer, convinced the man to hand over $5,100 in cash to a courier who arrived at his home. The victim only realized the fraud the following day after speaking with his actual son. The suspect is described as a male in a hood driving a newer model gray sedan.

Other reports from the week include a road rage incident on Aurora Road where a driver threatened to kill another motorist, and multiple cases of mail-related check fraud involving local businesses and residents.
