Northfield Center Township Roundup: The Key Actions

At the Jan. 13 trustee public hearing and regular meeting, trustees reviewed and approved zoning text amendments recommended by the Zoning Commission to more clearly tie lots to both a principal use and a driveway. The updated language addresses residential and commercial districts, including situations involving residential dwellings in a commercial district.

Trustees also discussed 2026 pavement planning through Summit County’s regional program, with Bayberry Road described as the major cost item and primary paving-related focus for the year. Routine financial items were also approved, including warrants/vouchers totaling $150,525.16.

In a separate Dec. 22 special meeting, trustees approved a listing agreement for 9546 Brandywine Road, the Olde Town Hall, to explore interest in a tenant under a lease/ground-lease concept aimed at renovation and ongoing maintenance rather than an immediate sale.

Meanwhile, the Board of Zoning Appeals approved area variances tied to an addition at Hanna’s Black Belt Academy, with conditions including storage-only use and brick matching the existing building on the façade facing Marwick Drive.
