HINCKLEY, Ohio – The Hinckley Fire and Police Departments, along with multiple regional agencies, spent over eight hours securing a major traffic incident Thursday involving a fully loaded propane tanker.
The incident began at approximately 1:37 p.m. on February 5, 2026, when emergency units were dispatched to the 100 block of Center Road. A semi-truck trailer had separated from its tractor, rolling down a hill before striking a ditch and another commercial vehicle. Upon learning the trailer was an 8,700-gallon liquid propane gas tanker, officials immediately requested the Medina County All Hazards Haz-Mat Team.
Center Road was closed in both directions to establish a safety perimeter while Hinckley Fire personnel conducted air monitoring. Fortunately, no propane release was detected. Due to the position of the tanker, crews performed a controlled product transfer before the trailer could be safely uprighted and removed.
Operations concluded at 10:15 p.m., at which point Center Road was reopened to traffic. Officials confirmed there were no injuries and no hazardous materials were released during the event. The Ohio State Highway Patrol Medina Post is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
