Police responded to a report of a vehicle damaged by a plow-equipped Bobcat UTV in a parking lot on Chippewa Road. According to the report, the vehicle owner said they stopped and honked as the UTV began backing out, but the operator did not appear to notice and continued reversing into the vehicle’s front passenger side, damaging the headlight and hood. The Bobcat’s salt chute was also reported damaged in the collision. Officers documented the incident and photographed damage. The operator was reported to have active warrants; dispatch confirmed the warrants, but the outcome was “advise and release” due to weather conditions, and the operator was told to take care of the warrants.

Muddy Tire Ruts on City Property Linked to Semi-Trailer

Officers reported ruts approximately 8–12 inches deep and spanning about 30 feet, with mud tracking along the curb into the nearby intersection. The ruts were consistent with semi-truck tires. A resident reported seeing the tracks after returning home in the early evening. Traffic Stops and Warrant-Related Arrests

Crash Call Leads to Warrant Arrest and Tow

Police responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a truck that struck a guardrail near Riverview Road and Vaughn Road. Officers located the vehicle with heavy front-end damage and side airbag deployment; the driver reported being uninjured. During the investigation, officers learned the vehicle registration was expired and that the driver had an active warrant through another agency. EMS was requested due to airbag deployment. After medical clearance, the driver was taken into custody and later transferred to the requesting agency. The vehicle was towed.

Equipment Violations Stop Results in Warrant Pickup and Transfer

During a late-night traffic stop on I-77 near the county line, an officer reported observing multiple equipment issues, including only one working headlight, dark window tint, and an unilluminated rear license plate. The driver was identified through records checks as having no valid license, being under suspension, and having active warrants. The window tint was reportedly tested and measured at 17% light transmission. Police took the driver into custody and transported him to a designated location where another department assumed custody. The vehicle was towed and impounded. The driver was issued citations with a Garfield Heights Municipal Court date listed in the report.

OVI Arrests

OVI Investigation Following Domestic Violence-Related “Attempt to Locate”

Brecksville officers assisted after another agency reported attempting to locate a vehicle connected to a domestic violence investigation, with the reporting party stating the driver was intoxicated. Police located the vehicle in the SR-82 area and attempted a traffic stop; the vehicle did not immediately stop and later came to rest in a travel lane near the SR-21 intersection area. Officers reported the driver appeared confused and required multiple commands to comply. Police reported signs of impairment including red, bloodshot and watery eyes, a strong odor of alcohol, slurred and lethargic speech, and an admission to drinking. Officers administered standardized field sobriety tests; the report describes multiple clues observed on the HGN test and significant difficulty following directions during the walk-and-turn test, which was stopped early to prevent the individual from walking into traffic. The driver later refused to complete remaining tests. The driver was arrested for OVI, transported to the Brecksville jail, and refused a breath test per the report. The vehicle was towed and impounded. The report also notes prior OVI convictions listed in a driving record check and that another agency had separate charges pending.

High-Speed Pursuit Ends With OVI Test Above .17 and Additional Charges

In a separate case, an officer reported clocking a vehicle at 93 mph in a 60 mph zone on I-77, with the driver allegedly failing to stop and accelerating to approximately 95–100 mph while weaving. The pursuit continued across multiple jurisdictions, with police reporting traffic violations including lane weaving, passing maneuvers without signals, running red lights and stop signs, and driving into oncoming lanes at points. Stop sticks reportedly struck at least one tire, but the pursuit continued until the vehicle ultimately slid into a guardrail and was disabled.

Police reported the driver showed signs of impairment, including slurred speech, a strong odor of alcohol, confusion, and inability to follow directions. Officers documented an open, half-full bottle of beer in the vehicle. Due to chemical irritant exposure during the arrest, field sobriety testing was conducted later at the station, where officers reported multiple indicators of impairment. The breath test ultimately produced a result of .228g/210L, according to the incident report. The driver was cited and charged with multiple offenses including failure to comply, OVI, OVI greater than .17, speed, willful/wanton disregard, and open container, and was transported for housing after an initial court appearance listed in the report.
