RAVENNA, Ohio – This Ravenna police blotter covers selected incidents and bookings from Feb. 4-17, 2026, based on Ravenna Police Department narratives and a bookings-by-date report. As always, charges are allegations, and cases remain pending unless and until proven in court.

Ravenna police handled a heavy share of warrant-related arrests during the period, along with a smaller number of bookings tied to new criminal allegations.

From the booking report, the most frequently listed category was warrant arrests (including warrants issued by Ravenna Police Department and other agencies). Other listed booking categories included:

  • Drug cases
    • Possession of drugs (Schedule I or II) tied to a Feb. 16 booking
    • Trafficking in drugs (prepare for shipment/transport) tied to a Feb. 14 booking
  • Protection-order related arrests
    • Violating a protection order/consent agreement (including one listed as an elevated pursuit-related protection-order charge)
  • Violent offense booking
    • Strangulation tied to a Feb. 10 booking

Warrant Arrests: Traffic Stops, Walk-Ins, and Agency Pickups

Several arrests began as traffic stops or street contacts where an officer learned a person had an active warrant. Examples from report narratives included:

  • Feb. 4: Officers stopping a vehicle learned the registered owner had an active warrant connected to a traffic violation; the driver was arrested on the warrant and also cited for driving without a valid operator’s license, then taken to the Portage County jail.
  • Feb. 4: A man came to the Ravenna Police Department and turned himself in on an outstanding felony warrant through another agency; he was held until deputies arrived to take custody.
  • Feb. 6: Officers reported recognizing a man in the area, confirmed an active warrant through another county, and arrested him; custody was transferred at a pre-arranged meet location.
  • Feb. 6: Police responded to a call to have a man trespassed from a property; officers learned he had a confirmed warrant through another police department and transported him to be turned over to that agency.
  • Feb. 8: During a traffic stop, an individual allegedly provided false identifying information (name/DOB/age) that returned to a real person; officers reported the person later admitted the false ID was used because an active warrant was believed to be in place.
  • Feb. 12: During a traffic stop, officers reported a passenger’s warrant was confirmed and a deputy responded to take custody.

Protection Orders: Violations Discovered During Stops and Calls

Police narratives also included cases involving alleged protection order violations:

  • Feb. 8: After a traffic stop, officers reported learning there was an active protection order involving the driver and passenger (with the passenger protected against the driver). The driver was arrested for violating a protection order and also faced driving under suspension allegations after officers reported a non-Ohio suspension and no valid Ohio license.
  • Feb. 9: Officers dispatched to a call (reported as a 911 open-line) indicated they found an active temporary protection order in place after contacting those involved; the suspect was arrested and booked on a protection-order violation charge.
  • Feb. 13: A report described an alleged protection order violation involving a message sent through social media; officers reported confirming an active protection order and preparing a felony-level complaint based on an alleged prior conviction history, then seeking a probable-cause warrant through a judge.

Drug Investigations: K-9 Alert and Alleged Narcotics Found

Two of the most detailed narratives in this date range involved drugs:

  • Feb. 14 (traffic stop): Officers reported using a free-air sniff during a traffic stop, followed by a positive alert. A search allegedly located drug paraphernalia, and in another case tied to the same date, officers reported locating multiple tied-off bags of suspected methamphetamine and a digital scale, leading to a trafficking-related complaint.
  • Feb. 16 (AutoZone call): Officers dispatched on a suspicious-person complaint reported a K-9 free-air sniff produced a positive alert on a vehicle. During a search, police reported finding a baggie the suspect described as a form of heroin after Miranda warnings. Officers further reported the suspect later disclosed additional narcotics allegedly concealed under the sole of a shoe.

Assault and Domestic-Related Cases: Group Home Fight, Sibling Dispute, and Bar Assault Report

Ravenna police also documented several assaults, including incidents involving vulnerable individuals and family members:

  • Feb. 10 (group home incident): Officers responded to a fight between two residents at a group home. Police reported one resident repeatedly punched another in the face and ribs, causing a bloody nose, and also allegedly grabbed the victim around the neck with both hands in a way staff described as an attempt to cut off breathing. The victim was transported by ambulance for evaluation. (A booking category for strangulation appeared in the booking report during this period.)
  • Feb. 16 (domestic violence): Officers dispatched after a 911 call described as “people screaming” reported a physical altercation between two brothers; their sister told police she woke up to the brothers fighting and was then allegedly struck in the face when she tried to call 911 and the suspect attempted to take the phone.
  • Feb. 14 (bar assault report): Officers took a report tied to an alleged assault at a local tavern. Police reported the victim said he was struck multiple times in the face/torso, later sought medical evaluation, and provided video. Officers described attempts to identify the suspect through video stills and follow-up contacts, including speaking with the business owner and documenting statements. A warrant request was noted as a next step.

Juvenile-Related Incidents: School Assault Allegations and Disorderly Conduct Complaint

Multiple entries involved juvenile complaints connected to school incidents in Ravenna:

  • Brown Middle School (bathroom assault investigation): Police documented an investigation in which a student reported being slapped multiple times in the head/face in a bathroom. Officers and school administrators reviewed short video clips reportedly recorded by another student; the narrative described the student being struck more than once and language used during the confrontation. A summons/complaint for assault was noted as the intended outcome.
  • Brown Middle School (hallway/discipline incident): An assistant principal reported a student intentionally ran a shoulder into another student and later used abusive language toward a staff member. Police documented the student’s statements and staff accounts, with a disorderly conduct complaint described.

  • Classroom assault report: Another narrative described a student entering a classroom and allegedly punching a student multiple times and throwing the student down, with a teacher witness and guardian notification described.
  • Feb. 17 (reported juvenile assault at a care setting): A juvenile complainant reported being grabbed by the hair and kicked; police noted an employee witness statement and indicated juvenile assault charges were expected to be signed.
