Northfield Village Police Blotter: Casino Restitution, School Safety, and Child Endangering Charges

Northfield Village police handled a variety of criminal and safety incidents from March 4 through March 10, 2026, including a theft at the MGM Casino, multiple juvenile investigations at local schools, and an arrest for endangering children.

NORTHFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – The Northfield Village Police Department managed several high-priority calls during the first full week of March 2026. Activity centered around Northfield Road businesses and local intermediate schools, involving reports of theft, harassment, and medical emergencies. Notable arrests included an OVI following a traffic stop and a child endangering charge after a toddler was found wandering alone.

MGM Casino Theft and OVI Arrests

The MGM Casino area on Northfield Road saw multiple police interventions during this period. On March 6, a woman reported a stolen ticket voucher from the casino. Following an investigation, a male suspect was identified; he subsequently agreed to pay back the full restitution amount of $180.25 via check on March 9, leading to the case being closed. Additionally, on the night of March 8, an officer conducted a traffic stop in the casino parking lot that resulted in the driver being arrested for OVI and cited into the Stow Municipal Court.

Juvenile Safety and Northfield Village Police School Interventions

The Northfield Village police were called to support safety protocols at local educational facilities on several occasions:

  • BB Gun Investigation: On March 5, officers investigated a social media post showing a juvenile with a suspected firearm. A search of the youth’s room on Roosevelt Drive uncovered the item, which was confirmed to be a BB gun.

  • Counterfeit Currency: At Lee Eaton Intermediate School on March 6, officials recovered a counterfeit bill. NVPD took the bill for destruction, while school staff handled student discipline internally.

  • Medical Emergency: On March 9, NVPD and fire units responded to Kid Friendly Academy for a medical emergency involving a child. Officers provided initial treatment before handing the child over to the Northfield Village Fire Department.

  • Internal Investigations: A separate call for assistance at Lee Eaton on March 6 was found to be unfounded after an initial investigation.

Endangering Children and Public Nuisance Reports

A serious safety concern was reported on May Avenue when a resident discovered a two-year-old girl outside alone and crying. The child was transported to Ahuja Medical Center for a precautionary assessment. While the mother and Child Services were notified, a different female was charged with endangering children and given a mandatory court date. Earlier in the week on Monroe Drive, a civil matter was documented after paint cans fell from a trash collection vehicle, spilling liquid latex paint onto the roadway.

Harassment and Suspicious Persons on Northfield Road

Officers responded twice to incidents involving daycare facilities on Northfield Road. On March 6, a resident reported being spit on by a male near the “Little Busy Beez” daycare. While there was insufficient evidence for assault charges, the male was later identified and formally warned that returning to the property would result in criminal trespass charges. Finally, a business reported telecommunications harassment from a terminated employee who was sending messages to staff. The individual was advised to cease all contact, and the employees declined to pursue formal charges.
