NORTHFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – The Northfield Village Police Department handled a variety of calls between March 11 and March 17, 2026, reflecting the broad scope of routine police work—from documenting property damage to responding to welfare concerns and securing potentially hazardous items.

Property Damage and Civil Incidents

On March 13, officers were dispatched to Lee Eaton Elementary School on Ledge Road after reports of storm damage. Upon arrival, police determined that strong winds had caused a tree to fall onto two parked vehicles. A report was completed to assist with insurance claims.

Earlier that day, officers met with a tenant at a Northfield Road plaza regarding a suspicious package. The parcel reportedly contained religious materials with highlighted passages and a USB flash drive. While the recipient declined to pursue charges, they requested documentation of the incident for recordkeeping.

Firearm and Property Recovery

On March 15, a resident on Magnolia Avenue contacted police after discovering a firearm in their backyard. Officers responded and safely recovered the weapon.

Alongside the firearm, authorities also located a backpack containing personal items, including adult products and a U.S. Army hat. The owner has not been identified, and the matter was closed following the collection of the items.

Welfare Checks and Emergency Responses

Police also handled multiple welfare-related calls on March 16. Officers conducted a welfare check on Ledge Road, where a woman was evaluated and transported to a hospital by the local fire department.

Later that afternoon, officers and emergency crews responded to a residence on Summit Avenue for a report of a possible deceased individual. A man at the scene was pronounced dead. Initial findings indicated no signs of foul play, and the case has been closed.
