Solon Police Reports: Arson Confession, Domestic Violence Arrests, and High-Speed Fleeing

Solon officers investigate a repeat arsonist at a local business and a series of road safety incidents involving OVI and pursuit.

SOLON, Ohio – The Solon Police Department handled a variety of incidents during the week of March 23, 2026, ranging from domestic disputes and repeat arson to a high-speed pursuit and OVI arrest. These Solon police reports highlight the proactive work of local officers and the Solon Fire Department in maintaining community safety, including the apprehension of a suspect involved in multiple intentional fires at a local business.

Arson Investigation at SOM Center Road Business

A significant investigation unfolded at a business in the 6120 block of SOM Center Road after the Solon Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on March 19 at 4:54 pm. Firefighters discovered a fire confined to a small, non-work area of the building, which was partially extinguished by the interior sprinkler system. Because this was the second fire at this location in 2026—the first occurring on January 22—a joint investigation was launched by the Solon Fire Inspector and the SPD Detective Bureau. An employee subsequently confessed to setting both fires and was charged with two counts of Aggravated Arson. While damage was reported as minor, both incidents disrupted business operations.

Domestic Violence and Physical Aggression on Cannon Road

On March 19 at 2:34 pm, officers responded to a residence in the block of Cannon Road regarding a domestic dispute between a married couple. Both individuals called the police to report the incident and both alleged they had been physically abused by their spouse. Upon arrival, officers observed minor visible injuries on both parties and determined that both the man and woman had been physical aggressors during the dispute. Both individuals, aged 41, were arrested and charged with Domestic Violence (M1). No medical treatment was required at the scene.

High-Speed Fleeing Incident and OVI Enforcement

The Solon police reports for the week also included a pursuit and a separate impaired driving arrest:

  • Fleeing and Eluding: On March 19, an officer attempted to stop a Jeep SUV with an expired license plate leaving a parking lot on Bainbridge Road. The vehicle initially slowed down on US 422 west but then accelerated away. Officers terminated the pursuit at the city limits but later located the vehicle at a residence in Maple Heights, where it was towed for further investigation.

  • OVI Arrest: Late on March 20, an officer stopped a silver Ford SUV for traveling 78 MPH in a 60 MPH zone on US 422. The 39-year-old driver exhibited bloodshot eyes and the odor of alcohol. After failing field sobriety tests, the driver was unable to complete a breath test at the jail, resulting in a license suspension and charges of OVI and speeding.

Additional Incidents: Criminal Damaging and Warrant Arrest

Officers investigated a report of criminal damaging at a grocery store on Aurora Road on March 21, where a woman’s car was “keyed” with an expletive while she was shopping. Additionally, on March 22, the city’s automated license plate reader (ALPR) system alerted officers to a white GMC SUV at a gas station on Aurora Road. The owner, a 41-year-old male, was found to have a felony burglary warrant and was arrested and turned over to the Cleveland Police Department.
