Macedonia Police Blotter: Felony Shoplifting, Armed OVI, and Lottery Fraud Lead to Multiple Arrests

Macedonia Police respond to a high-volume week of retail theft at Walmart and a dangerous weapons-related traffic stop.

MACEDONIA, Ohio – The Macedonia Police Department managed an extensive series of criminal investigations in mid-March 2026, ranging from a $1,200 felony shoplifting incident involving an electric bike to an internal lottery theft scheme at a local gas station and an intoxicated driver found with a loaded revolver.

Felony Shoplifting and Resisting Arrest at Walmart

Retail theft at the Walmart located at 8160 Macedonia Commons accounted for a significant portion of police activity. On March 21, 2026, officers arrested a male suspect after he allegedly attempted to steal $1,264.06 in merchandise. The suspect reportedly used a tool to cut a security chain, threw a receipt from a different store at a greeter, and attempted to flee the scene on an electric bike. He was ultimately charged with felony theft, possessing criminal tools, and resisting arrest.

Other notable incidents at the same Walmart location included:

  • March 20, 2026: A female was issued a summons for theft after $59.44 in items were not scanned while she was shopping with three children.

  • March 15, 2026: A suspect was charged with theft and driving without a license after being caught stealing ground beef.

  • March 14, 2026: Two individuals were arrested for “skip-scanning” items; investigators linked them to a similar theft from January.

  • March 10, 2026: A woman with active warrants from Franklin County and Groveport was charged with theft and criminal trespassing for allegedly stealing $592.45 in merchandise.

  • March 10, 2026: Another female was arrested for theft; police coordinated with her mother to take custody of her daughter to avoid involving Child Protective Services.

Armed OVI and Weapons Charges at Office Max

On March 14, 2026, Macedonia units were alerted to an intoxicated male who had allegedly been offering liquor to people at a nearby Valvoline. Officers located the suspect’s vehicle in the Office Max parking lot on E. Aurora Road. Upon investigation, police discovered a loaded .38 revolver and open alcohol containers inside the car. The driver was charged with OVI, carrying concealed weapons, and using weapons while intoxicated.

Internal Fraud and Traffic Violations

Macedonia investigators uncovered a sophisticated theft scheme at the Speedway on E. Aurora Road. On March 11, 2026, two employees were charged with tampering with evidence and theft. Loss prevention reported the pair had been stealing and cashing lottery instant tickets, with losses totaling approximately $832.

Additional police activity during this period included:

  • March 12, 2026: A driver on I-271 was charged with driving under OVI suspension and possession of an open bottle of Hennessy.

  • March 11, 2026: A traffic stop on I-271 for speeding (78 mph in a 60 mph zone) resulted in citations for the driver having a 12-point suspension and the owner being cited for wrongful entrustment.

  • March 14, 2026: Officers responded to a disorderly conduct call at Whistle Express Car Wash, where a customer was verbally trespassed after a dispute over a membership cancellation.

  • March 22, 2026: Police responded to a domestic dispute at Raising Cane’s where an iPhone’s automated crash detection alerted 911 following a verbal argument in a vehicle. No charges were filed as there were no injuries.
