Cyber-Crime and Identity Theft Investigations

Aurora officers addressed several high-tech crimes during this period. On February 25, a resident on Knightsbridge Lane reported that someone was using her images from TikTok and utilizing AI to post them to a separate account. Two days later, a victim on Aurora Hudson Road filed a report after discovering a loan had been taken out in her name. Also on February 27, a male on Sherwood Drive reported a cyber-crime involving his Navy Federal account. Most recently, on March 2, an IT representative for the Aurora School District reported a cyber security threat and scam that had occurred within the district.

Domestic Violence and Physical Assaults

Police were called to multiple physical disputes throughout the city. On February 18, a complainant on Moneta Avenue reported being punched by a female who fled the area. On February 19, a mother on Emerald Court reported her 12-year-old son attacked her during an argument over hygiene. On March 2, officers responded to East Boulevard where a male allegedly slapped a female in the face; the male was eventually transported to a different location for the night. Additionally, on March 3, a staff member on S. Bissell Road was accused of punching a resident who has a spinal cord injury.

Warrant Arrests and OVI Enforcement

Several individuals were taken into custody on active warrants. A female was arrested for a misdemeanor warrant following a traffic stop on N. Aurora Road on February 27. Later that same day, a male was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant during another stop in the same area. In addition to warrants, an OVI arrest occurred on February 25 on S. Chillicothe Road after witnesses flagged down a white pickup truck and reported the driver appeared intoxicated.

Miscellaneous Calls and Property Damage

  • Noise Complaint: On February 18, residents on Bryce Avenue and East Boulevard reported hearing screams; officers eventually determined it was a verbal argument between a couple in a vehicle.

  • Property Damage: On February 19, a car reportedly ran into a yard on E. Homestead Drive and struck a fire hydrant before fleeing the scene.

  • Suspicious Activity: A resident on Orchard Avenue provided video footage to police on February 20 showing a male in a Chevy truck grabbing a brick and approaching a neighbor’s house before noticing a security camera and leaving.
