A Philosophy of Unity and Collaboration

Following the vote, Dr. Sandy D. Womack Jr. addressed the board and community, emphasizing a leadership style rooted in cooperation.

“I believe we can accomplish more together than we can individually, and when we turn to each other rather than against each other, we can make a significant impact for our students and community,” Womack stated.

He noted that after 33 years in public education, he is honored to lead a high-performing district like Twinsburg and has already begun meeting with students, including student-athletes and staff at the high school, to hear about their aspirations.

The National Search Process

Board President Rhonda Crawford highlighted that Dr. Sandy D. Womack Jr. was chosen from a pool of 28 applicants after a process facilitated by the firm Finding Leaders. The search included focus groups and a community town hall to ensure stakeholders had a voice in the selection.

“Dr. Womack’s experience, leadership, and commitment to students and community engagement stood out throughout the process,” Crawford said.

The board members voting in favor of the appointment were Crawford, Hamilton, and Rush, while members Egan and Travis cast the dissenting votes.
