GATES MILLS, Ohio – The Gates Mills Police Department addressed several service calls and traffic incidents between March 25 and March 27, 2026, including a warrant transfer from a neighboring agency and a two-vehicle collision on Mayfield Road. Officers also provided community assistance for a vehicle lockout at Gilmour Academy and investigated a 911 hang-up call at a local residence.
Gates Mills Police Department Service Calls
On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at approximately 8:03 p.m., Gates Mills officers were dispatched to a residence on Chagrin River Road following a 911 hang-up call. Upon arrival, police spoke with the resident, who confirmed the call was placed in error and that no emergency existed. Officers verified the safety of the occupants before clearing the scene.
Warrant Arrest and Transfer to Lyndhurst Court
On Friday, March 27, 2026, at 11:39 a.m., the Chagrin Valley Dispatch notified Gates Mills authorities that the Willoughby Hills Police Department had apprehended an individual wanted on an active Gates Mills warrant. The warrant was issued for failure to appear on a traffic offense. Officer Cole met with Willoughby Hills officers to take custody of the 38-year-old male from Maple Heights. The individual was transported to Lyndhurst Court, where he appeared before a judge and was subsequently released after addressing the traffic matter.
Vehicle Lockout at Gilmour Academy Ice Arena
Assistance was requested at the Gilmour Academy Ice Arena on Friday afternoon. At 3:54 p.m., an officer responded to a report of a vehicle lockout. Using a specialized police lockout tool, the officer successfully opened the vehicle for the owner.
Traffic Accident on Mayfield Road
Later that evening, at 5:39 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on Mayfield Road near West Hill Drive. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound when the driver of a Buick Regal attempted to change lanes to avoid a vehicle turning left. In the process, the Buick struck the driver’s side of a Chevrolet truck. While both vehicles sustained minor damage, no injuries were reported by either party. The female driver of the Buick was cited in relation to the accident.
