Terrified employee barricades herself at work (March 24)
A female employee at 425 S. Chillicothe Rd. locked herself in her office for over 4 hours after a report was filed against her. The woman was reportedly terrified for her life, scratching at her arms and hiding in room 432. Officers noted she “does not sound like her report was filed with us.” The employee was recently placed on mental health observation, according to police records.
Suicidal youth refuses to return home (March 25)
Police responded to a call regarding an unruly 34-year-old grandson who was yelling and refusing to listen. The juvenile had made concerning statements about self-harm and officers noted small cuts to his wrist that he admitted were self-inflicted with a razor blade. The subject was transported for further evaluation.
Woman requires medical transport after combining substances (March 30)
A 52-year-old female required emergency transport after taking sleeping pills combined with alcohol. She was taken to UH Portage for treatment.
Domestic Incidents
Protection order violation on East Blvd (April 4)
Jeremy Johnson, 21, was arrested for violating a protection order when he refused to leave a residence despite court orders. The caller reported Johnson was belligerent, screaming “this is my house” and calling her derogatory names. Johnson was transported to jail.
Relationship dispute leads to driveway standoff (March 26)
Officers responded to a domestic dispute on Moneta Avenue where a girlfriend refused to enter the residence or leave the driveway. Officers advised that other units would be clearing shortly to assist. The incident was transferred as a disturbance.
Woman kicked out of vehicle by boyfriend (March 29)
Police responded to Chesterton Lane after a female was reportedly kicked out of a car by her boyfriend near the Forest Preserve neighborhood. The woman’s phone was disconnected when officers attempted to call her. She later advised she had been in an argument with her boyfriend while he was driving and demanded he pull over so she could exit the vehicle.
Thefts and Break-ins
Dealership vehicle stolen overnight (March 26)
A vehicle was reported stolen overnight from Ken Ganley Chrysler of Aurora at 161 W Garfield Rd. The vehicle was listed as a dealership car that had a club in it.
Coins reported missing from safe (March 25)
A 25-year-old female reported coins taken from a safe inside her residence at 1191 East Blvd. She was unsure of the timeframe but had just noticed them missing.
Suspected break-in with property damage (April 6)
Officers responded to 975 East Blvd after the homeowner returned to find their house had been broken into. The caller reported drawers had been gone through and cat food was thrown all over the floor. Door locks appeared to have been changed. Officers advised the resident not to touch anything while investigation was conducted.
Traffic Incidents
Driver transported after 75 MPH crash (March 31)
Barbara Rae Arsena, 36, was cited for driving 72 MPH in a 35 MPH zone at W Garfield Rd/Lakeland Way. Arsena was transported to the hospital following the incident. Her vehicle required a flatbed for towing.
DUI arrest follows crash (April 1)
Rachel Marie Phillips, 24, was arrested for driving under the influence after her vehicle went off the road at 252 N Chillicothe Rd. Officers reported heavy front-end damage to her vehicle. She was taken into custody.
Erratic driver leads to call for service (March 25)
Officers responded to calls about an erratic driver at E Garfield Rd/Limits. The black KIA was reported to be “all over the road.” Officers located the vehicle coming out of Fairview Park but noted the driver did not stop. The incident was documented for information only.
Suspicious Activity
Church reports concerning visitors (April 1)
The pastor at 146 S Chillicothe Rd contacted police regarding two suspicious males who visited the church that morning. According to reports, the two males approached the church at different times during the day, asking to speak with the minister. Church staff noted the men were asking “strange” questions to the secretary.
Suspicious figures at lake property (March 29)
Security cameras captured two individuals dressed all in black with hoodies at Geauga Lake property. Security personnel initially believed there were three individuals, but after reviewing footage determined they may have headed up a hill after passing through the security gate.
