Akron native Thomas Kim transformed a local warehouse into a cultural playground last Friday, drawing sneakerheads and celebrities alike for the exclusive release of the Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0” limited-edition sneakers.
The May 16 event, titled “Seoul, Soul, Sole,” blended Korean heritage with street culture as Kim, founder of Kicks Lounge and a Korean-American designer, celebrated being hand-selected as a Jordan Brand partner for the coveted sneaker launch.
“This wasn’t just a sneaker drop—it’s a movement,” said Kim. “Seoul, Soul, Sole bridges my Korean roots with the Akron community. It’s about honoring legacy, embracing culture, and showing how far style can travel when it’s built on something real.”
Attendees experienced a full-sensory gallery featuring Korean aesthetics, sneaker storytelling, and interactive installations. The event’s highlights included Korean-inspired food and cocktails, exclusive giveaways, and a 6-foot sculpture of the featured sneaker built to scale.
Several notable guests attended the celebration, including Cleveland Browns player Jerome Baker, along with NFL players Justin Layne and Mohamed Sanu. Entertainment figures Briannagh D and Robert Fomby were also present at the event.
The immersive experience gave participants an opportunity to purchase the limited-edition Air Jordan 3 “Seoul 2.0” before its broader release, making it one of the season’s most anticipated sneaker drops.
