Township Commits Over $180K to Facility Improvements

Bath Township trustees approved significant infrastructure spending during their June 2 special meeting, including $172,105.43 to Classical Construction LLC for Service Building expansion and $11,714.05 to Weblife Stores LLC for locker room lockers. The total payment package reached $219,737.61 across multiple purchase orders.

Property Added to JEDD District for Sewer Access

Resolution 2025-25 Expands Economic Development Zone

The Board of Trustees passed Resolution 2025-25 approving the inclusion of properties at 3455-3465 Granger Road and 845 Wye Road into the Bath-Akron-Fairlawn Joint Economic Development District. The Bath Township Water and Sewer District Board reviewed the request and had no objections to allowing the properties to tie into the sewer system due to EPA requirements for connection. Property owners will be solely responsible for all costs associated with sewer extension and connection.

Police Department Sees Personnel Changes

Officer Resigns After Decade of Service

Police Chief Vito Sinopoli announced the resignation of full-time officer Lane Watson, effective May 16. Watson served the Bath Police Department since 2014. The department also removed Sergeant Bill Alexander from probationary status effective April 29.

New Training Agreement Approved

Trustees approved an OPOTA tuition reimbursement agreement with Emily Mullenix, a part-time communication specialist, for police academy training. The agreement includes up to $5,250 in reimbursement and requires a 48-month employment commitment after certification.

Technology Partnership Brings AI Call Processing

Five-Year Agreement with Summit County

Bath Township entered into an intergovernmental agreement with Summit County to participate in a master service agreement with Aurelian Inc. The company will process non-emergent calls using an automated voice assistant, with the agreement running from May 1 through December 31, 2030.

Bath Community Park Playground Improvements Underway

Upper Playground Closed June 9-13 for Enhancements

Bath Community Park’s upper playground will be closed the week of June 9-13 for improvements. The lower playground will be closed beginning June 5 and will be removed permanently. The upper playground will receive enhancements throughout the summer with several closures planned. Alternative playground facilities are available at Bath Baseball Park and Bath Hill Park during the construction period.

Summer Community Event Planned

First Annual Celebration Set for June 20

Bath Township and the Bath Parks Board will host the inaugural “Sun’s Out, Fun’s Out” Summer Solstice Community Celebration from 5-10 pm at Bath Community Park. The event will feature a live DJ, games, races and activities for all ages, with food trucks Rax BBQ and Henry’s Creamery on site. The Kroskey family and True Wealth Design are sponsoring the event.

Sidewalk Project Moves Forward

$25K Payment Approved for Cleveland Massillon Project

Trustees approved payment of $25,760.58 to Geauga Highway for the first installment of the Cleveland Massillon Road sidewalk project local share, as requested by Summit County Engineer Alan Brubaker.

Personnel Policy Updates

Department Head Vacation Benefits Increased

The board passed Resolution 2025-24 amending the Personnel Policy Manual to provide department heads with a minimum of four weeks vacation, with one additional week after every five years of service, up to a maximum of six weeks. The change is retroactive to January 1.

Seasonal Hiring Continues

Six New Employees Added for Summer

The township hired six seasonal employees at $15 per hour across multiple meetings: Hunter Woznicki, Dillon Carlquist, and Zachary Zimmerman in one group, and Alex Petersen, Katherine Wilson, and Connor Roose in another.

Fire Department and Parks Improvements

Equipment and Facility Upgrades Approved

Assistant Fire Chief John Rodriguez received approval for a $5,500 annual contract renewal with Aladtec Inc. for scheduling software. Parks Director Jeff France secured agreements for $12,155 with Myers Design for playground equipment relocation and rehabilitation, and $5,900 with C.A.R.E Construction for scoreboard installation at Bath Community Park, funded by a Bath Park Board donation.

Service Department Contracts

Pest Control and Spectrum Lease Approved

Service Director Caine Collins received approval for a $7,337.16 agreement with Terminix for pest control services at township facilities. Administrator Vito Sinopoli also secured approval for a lease amendment with Spectrum Mid-America LLC for property at 3840 Bath Road.
