Three Northeast Ohio high schools will compete Monday for state championships in the Ohio High School Football Coaches Association 7-on-7 tournament.
Avon earned the Northeast Regional Division I championship and will compete in the large school bracket at St. Charles Prep beginning at 5:30 PM. The Eagles will face a bye in the first round before taking on either Grove City or Turpin at 6:30 PM.
In Division II action at Hilliard Darby High School starting at 10 AM, Kirtland claimed the Northeast Regional championship and receives a first-round bye. The Hornets will play the winner of East versus Carlisle at 11:30 AM.
Maple Heights qualified as the Northeast Regional runner-up in Division I and will face Westerville Central at 6:30 PM in their opening match.
Cleveland Central Catholic also advanced as the Northeast Regional Division II runner-up but will not compete due to receiving a bye position in the bracket structure.
The tournament features teams that finished in the top four of last week’s regional competitions. Division II finals are scheduled for 12:30 PM at Hilliard Darby, while Division I championship games will conclude at 7:30 PM at St. Charles Prep.
Regional champions from Central, Northwest, Southwest and Northeast Ohio earned automatic berths, with runners-up filling out the 16-team field across both divisions.
